Macclesfield Harriers & Athletic Club

Stockport 10 Mile Road Race and Tatton Yule Romp

The Stockport 10 attracted a number of Harriers who took on the fairly challenging course and the wet conditions on Sunday morning.  Nearly 800 runners took part overall in the race which starts and finishes at the Woodbank Park track.

The overall race was won by Altrincham AC runner Matt Barnes in 50:55.

Olivia Bush, also of Altrincham AC, won the overall ladies race in 58:44.

There were some fine performances by the Harriers’ despite some having recent injuries and some being more accustomed to fell rather than road running.  The Club claimed two age category winners and the men’s team finished 6th overall against some very strong opposition.

Additionally, Barry Blyth set a new Club 10 mile road record for the M65 category, overtaking the time set by Colin Ardron just last August.

It would also appear that Cynthia Chapman’s result is a Club record for the F65 category.
