Langley 7

Macclesfield Harriers and East Cheshire Hospice would like to thank all those involved in the running of the Langley 7 race which was held recently. A sum of £2200 was raised for the hospice. Thanks are due to all who helped out at the race – runners, marshals, cake makers, Bryan Dale Photography, helpers from East Cheshire Hospice, the organising committee, and all in Langley village.

The  race runs through the centre of Langley village, and then up the grueling climb of Withenshaw Lane, before returning through Macclesfield Forest to Bottoms reservoir, and this year attracted almost 300 entries.

First runner was Staffordshire Moorlands 19 year old runner Ryan Holroyd who completed the 7 mile course race in 39min 31sec, followed by Macclesfield Harriers Tim Pattison in 40 min 37 sec. First Lady was Wilmslow’s Diane McVey, who took 46 min 31 sec, followed by Macc Harrier junior Danielle Wallis in 47 min 31 sec.

All the finishers received a bottle of beer, and after the race, runners returned to the village church hall where tea and cakes were the order of the day !

Attached a picture of the handing over of the cheque, pictured are Julian Brown, race organiser, Faye Coombs, fundraiser from East Cheshire Hospice, and Jo Miles, who was in charge of providing refreshments, (also from both Macclesfield Harriers and East Cheshire Hospice.)
