YDL Lower T&F League R1, Macclesfield

Posted on 20/05/2023

The coronation weekend not only heralded a new king, but also the first YDL fixture of the Track and Field season, which was a home fixture. It was particularly pleasing to have 30 youngsters competing, some of whom were doing so for the first time.

A strong team of 9 U13 girls meant that we were able to fill all events. It was great to see teamwork and friendship developing as the girls supported and encouraged each other all afternoon. Many personal bests were achieved and the girls scored consistently. Well done all!

Seven boys were competing as U13 boys,  with some solid performances in both track and field events. There were some brilliant results from the youngsters, finishing with a speedy relay.

For the U15 girls, Brooke, Lizzie, Tanvi and Annabel flew the flag for Macclesfield and performed well across as many events as they could, picking up vital points for the team.

A strong squad of 10 boys made up the U15 boys, again meaning that all events could be filled. Brilliant performances resulted all round, with many of the boys finishing with EA rankings too, which was fantastic to see.

Overall, Macclesfield Harriers finished in 5th place, hot on the heels on Wigan who lie slightly ahead of us after the first competition. Big ‘thank you’ to the youngsters for taking part, and to the parents, team managers and coaches for the incredible job you do! The next fixture is away at Leigh on the 3rd of June, so please do contact team managers if you are able to compete. The more events we can fill, the more points we can score and it would be great to ensure away fixtures are just as well attended as home fixtures.
