TRACK – MEN
It has been a quiet period for Record-Breakers on the track during the Indoor Season, with just the two athletes setting new records during this period. However, each and every record is worthy of celebration!
First up is Jake Rowley. Jake may almost be considered a veteran on the track now, and has recently moved to his first year of the U20 age-group. The competition certainly doesn’t get any easier!
While not eclipsing his own PB times at the events in Manchester and Sheffield, Jake did set new Club records indoors in both the 600m and 800m in December 2024 and January 2025 respectively.
In addition to Jake’s successes, Samuel Savage also had quite a meritorious month achieving Club records in several events across both Track and Field. On the Track, Samuel set a new U15 record indoors in the 400m at the RJT event in Sheffield with a time of 60.64s. Congratulations to these two athletes!
TRACK – WOMEN
Georgia Evans had a fabulous few finishes in the Northern Athletics events in November 2024 and February 2025 in both Track and Field events. On the Indoor Track, Georgia set new U13 age-group records in the 60m and the 200m with times of 9.13s and 30.34s respectively. Well done Georgia!
FIELD – MEN
Samuel Savage followed on from his Track success with some excellent progress in the Indoor Shot Put in Sheffield. Initially, Samuel improved on the existing record of 10.09m with a throw of 11.10m in December 2024. He then went one better by breaking this again in January 2025 with an excellent throw of 11.71m (Level 7 in the England Athletics PB Awards). Very well done Samuel!
FIELD – WOMEN
Finally, in the Field, Georgia Evans also achieved a Level 7 equivalent (England Athletics PB Awards) jump of 4.08m in the Long Jump, improving the previous U13 Club-Record jump by a further 68cm!
ROAD
On the Road, both Sue Stockdale and Ann-Marie Jones set new records in the Half-Marathon and 5K respectively.
Sue shattered the V50 Half-Marathon record by almost 4 minutes! The previous record had been in place since 2018, however Sue set a new record at the event in Congleton with a time of 1:38.38.
Ann-Marie achieved a similar feat in the Sale Sizzler 5K, breaking a V70 record that had stood for almost 9 years, and not only breaking it, but taking almost 3 minutes off this with a time of 25:48. Congratulations to both of these athletes!
SPORTS HALL
Finally, it was pleasing to see an update in the Sports Hall category this time around with Ben Hunsley setting a new U13 Vertical Jump record. Ben took on the existing record of 47cm and achieved a new Club record with a jump of 55cm at the league event in Crewe. Very well done.
