Many congratulations to Lizzie Pendrill, Rebecca Dilworth and Hayden Blunn for their selection to compete in the prestigious English Schools Track and Field Championships being held in Birmingham this coming weekend (30th June and 1st July). Many current International athletes started their athletics career at these championships, so this is a major achievement for our young athletes. All 3 athletes will represent Cheshire Schools, having achieved the challenging entry standards. Lizzie, at her first English Schools, goes in the Junior Girls 75m Hurdles. Rebecca, who has competed in the cross country equivalent previously, will be running in the Senior Girls 800m and multi-eventer, Hayden (English Schools high jump champion in 2022), this time takes on the Senior Boys Shot Put. We wish all three athletes a terrific experience.
Many Congratulations also to Isaac Inwood who took gold in the long jump at the National Independent Schools T&F championships with a jump of 6m05cm.
Meanwhile on the Fells, three Macclesfield athletes donned Cheshire vests to compete in the National Inter Counties Fell championships on 24th June on a very hot and humid day in the Shropshire Hills. Jake Ireland and Thomas Wood competed in the U15 race, with Jake finishing a brilliant 2nd place overall and Thomas also having a great run to finish 7th, their Cheshire team were 2nd just behind Yorkshire. Michael Wood had another great result in the U17 event, finishing first Cheshire counter in 8th place.
Well done All!
