Summer Road Handicap Monday July 17th 7pm

How well do you know your running pace? This will be a fun event where runners try to predict their time for an out and back route of approximately 7.5K starting and finishing at the track. No watches allowed! Prizes for top 10 runners closest to their predicted time. Registration will be from 6pm at the Clubhouse by the track. Details of the route are below. Open to all club members. Anyone interested in volunteering on the night please contact Ray O’Keefe (rayokeefe6@gmail.com).

Road Handicap Route

The route starts at the main starting line of the track and goes clockwise for 300m around the track then exists the track to run to the right to a path through the trees. Once through the trees runners take an immediate right to go across the field to the path that leads to Tamar Close. From Tamar Close runners turn right and run up Drummond Way and at the end of Drummond Way take the new path through the fences then turn left to go to Birtles Road. Runners turn right to go up Birtles Road then bear right again to go up Whirley Road. Coming down from the top of Whirley Road runners turn right onto Wrigley Lane and run all the way to Birtles Lane. At Birtles Lanes runners take a sharp left to start a small loop back by taking Birtles Lane then to a left onto Cross Lane which then takes you back to Wrigley Lane were you then turn right. Runners now follow back the route they came out on by continuing on Wrigley Lane, then taking a left onto Whirley Road, then left onto Birtles Road, then left back onto the path leading to Drummond Way, right down Drummond Way to a left into Tamar Close. Finally take the path at the end of Tamar Close to then run back across the field through the trees and back to the track to turn right for a 100m finish on the track. The route is approximately 7.5K/4.6miles and will be marked.
