Several of our young athletes have continued to make great progress in T&F this season. Jake Rowley, in his new found event of 800m, took bronze at the recent England Athletics U15 Championships in Bedford in a new PB of 2mins 3.85secs. Jake won his heat on Saturday as the quickest qualifier and returned on Sunday to clinch the bronze medal. He thoroughly enjoyed the experience, as did his family, even though it involved a 250mile diversion from their holiday on the south coast for Jake to take part. Also competing at Bedford was Philip Goodfellow in the U17 800m, after a quiet season it was great to hear of Philip’s PB performance of 1.59.25 in his heat.
Meanwhile, our multi-event specialist, Hayden Blunn, who had a great early season in the high jump winning the English Schools title with 1.98cm, competed again for England in the UK school games in Loughborough in early September after a 7 week injury lay off. Hayden put in an excellent performance of 1.90 showing he is getting closer to his pre-injury form.
