Congratulations to our three contenders, Stephanie Wood, Kathleen O’Donnell and Barrie Thomason on their efforts over the weekend.
Stephanie Completed a Bob Graham Round, well within the 24 hour limit, and in good spirits throughout.
Barrie completed the round but unfortunately slightly outside the 24 hours, and also in fine form throughout.
Kathleen completed the first four legs of the route as far as Honister Pass, and was unbelievably cheery (as always!) throughout her travels !
All three of our contenders expressed their thanks to all the navigators, pacers, road support and everyone else – especially organiser in chief Tom Whittington – who came out to enjoy themselves and make a great weekend. Weather was just about perfect: perhaps a little warm at times, but with good visibility throughout and almost no rain.
I’m sure a write-up or two will appear soon.
It’s hoped that Kathleen and Barrie will choose to return to attempt the round again, as the considered opinion of those there was that on another day, they’re both quite capable of completing the round. Additionally, it seems quite likely that several of those up for the weekend will consider attempting the round themselves. As and when they’re ready, we’re sure the club members will support them.
Finally, congratulations to previous ‘Bob’ completers Mandy Calvert and Martin Rands, who on Sunday completed (after they tell us something over 20 years!) their ‘Wainwrights’ with a visit to Seathwaite Fell, accompanied by several club members.
