We recently caught up with a Macclesfield Harrier legend. Someone who influences, motivates and encourages us as a club and also as individuals . . . unfortunately Pauline wasn’t available, so Bob stepped in instead! 😉
This is what Club President Bob Lynch had to say;
Q1: When did you start running?
Bob: When I was 9, and then ran nearly continuously through to my early 70s. That is probably why I am now jiggered!
Q2: How long have you been a Macclesfield Harrier?
Bob: I joined MH & ac shortly after moving to this area in 1984. Before that I was a member of Handy Cross joggers down in High Wycombe.
Q3:What has been your favourite race and why?
Bob: The 400m and 800m, both as a competitor and as a spectator. Both can be brutal if you don’t get it right.
Q4: What does running mean to you?
Bob: An excellent way of keeping fit, meeting others, and being able to measure your performance.
Q5: Do you have a top tip for other runners?
Bob: As in life, set yourself stretching targets but be honest about whether they are achievable.
Anything else you would like to add?
Bob: My motivation now and for the last 20 years has been in helping others believe in themselves and to improve.
Thank you to Bob for stepping into the limelight to take part in Meet the Members. Both Bob and his wife Pauline have worked hard over the years to develop our club – thank you for all your efforts.
