The sun made a welcome appearance at the first coaching clinic of the season and more than 20 athletes and 7 coaches had a successful morning focusing on the technical aspects of Track and Field. The events on offer included Pole Vault, Javelin, Discus, Hammer, Sprints and Hurdles. The extended time available and in some cases 1:1 coaching meant athletes made good progress in their chosen events.
A huge thank you goes out to our fully qualified coaches, who are all volunteers, for giving up their free time to provide the expert coaching.
A big thank you also to all the additional volunteers who under Bob’s guidance worked hard on the track maintenance – a great team effort left the shot put throwing area looking as good as new and ready for the next coaching session on Saturday 28th March.
The coaching clinics are supported by the Macclesfield Athletics Development Fund and generous donations from family and friends of Barry Blyth and Michael Lafferty.
Remember, these coaching sessions are open to all ages, all abilities, club and non-club members, so please spread the word and register online for the next event on Saturday 28th March.
