Summer Competition
A small group of Macclesfield Harriers athletes travelled to Derby to compete at the Northern Athletics U17, U15 & U13 Championships on 10 & 11 August.
In the U17s, Jake Rowley came in 2nd in the 400m final and teammate Ollie Mills-Kidals jumped his way to 2nd in the High Jump and 4th in the Pole Vault with a PB on Saturday, as well as competing in the 100m Hurdles and Long Jump on Sunday.
Tristan Lamprecht continued his successful season in the U15Bs winning both the 80m Hurdles and the Javelin, with a PB and club record of 53.13m which puts him 2nd in the UK for 2024, as well as 5th place in windy conditions in the Long Jump. Teammate Chris Melvin came 3rd in his 100m race narrowly missing out on a place in the final.
For the U15Gs Flo Beard sprinted great races in the 100m and 200m.
Georgia Evans was the youngest of the club’s athletes, competing in her first regional championship for the U13Gs and jumping a PB in the Long Jump and sprinting a PB in the 100m.
Congratulations to all the athletes on a successful competition.
Thanks also go to Craig Birch and Matt Lynas who represented the club as officials on both days.
We hope that these experiences will encourage more junior athletes to compete in next year’s championships.
