U11 and U13 winter training

Posted on 13/10/2022

On Tuesdays between 18 October 2022 and 31 January 2023, the Club will offer a choice of training for U13s:

– Indoor Track & Field (from 6.30pm to 7.30pm), and

– Outdoor Endurance (from 6pm to 7pm).

For U11s, there will be Indoor training only on Tuesdays during this period (6.30pm to 7.30pm).

On Thursdays, training for both age groups will be outdoors (6pm to 7pm).

The final training session of the year will be on Tuesday 20 December and we re-start on Tuesday 3 January.

Indoor Training  Meet Tuesday at 6.30pm in Macclesfield Leisure Centre Sports Hall.  There will be event-specific training (Standing Jumps, Throws, Sprints) and athletes will be encouraged to compete in the three league competitions which take place before Christmas, and to be available for the final in January (dates to be announced). Indoor sports shoes must be worn.

Outdoor Training  Meet Tuesday at 6pm at the Clubhouse by the athletics track.  Training will largely be running-based but also include elements to improve strength and agility; athletes attending these sessions will be encouraged to compete in in the cross-country league and championship competitions.  Layered, warm and waterproof clothing should be worn.  On Thursdays, if weather permits, there will be opportunity to practise jumps and throws.

We need Parent Helpers for all sessions.  If you are able to assist, please contact Rachael Lawrance.  The coaches will be happy to answer any queries.
