Nine Macclesfield Harriers took part in the Sandbach 10k on Sunday. This was the penultimate race of this year’s Cheshire Grand Prix, and our runners picked up some invaluable points as we look to finish the season strongly. It was a blisteringly hot day and the warm conditions did not make for ideal running conditions; however, there were a number of impressive performances. Congratulations to all for overcoming the elements and racing so strongly!
Rob Whitby finished 5th overall and was our fastest runner with a chip time of 37:08 while Andrew Power (41:57) and Graeme Eddie (44:16) were our 2nd and 3rd fastest men. Our fastest lady was Sue Stockdale who completed the course with a chip time of 46:03 while Kim Eastham (56:30) and Helen Eddie (84:05) were our second and third fastest ladies.
There were also some great age-category results. Keith Mulholland was the 2nd fastest male v60 while Sue Stockdale was the fastest female v50!

Macclesfield Harriers Road Running Club Championships 2024
The next three races in the Club Championships are detailed below.
- Macclesfield parkrun (August 17th) – Free to attend. Our local parkun. Please wear club colours if possible as we would like to showcase how friendly and welcoming our club is to the people of Macclesfield.
- Crewe parkrun (September 14th) – Free to attend. This is the last race in this year’s Cheshire Grand Prix, so it would be great to have a large turnout. If we do well at Crewe, the men’s and ladies’ teams have a good chance of finishing this year’s Cheshire Grand Prix in the top 3!
- Congleton Half Marathon (October 6th) – An undulating half marathon hosted by Congleton Harriers.
We also have the opportunity to compete at the North West Counties Road Relays at Edge Hill University on Sunday, September 8th. There are age category races from U11s through to seniors, and the club will cover the entry fee of anyone who wishes to enter. Further information will be posted later this week; however, anyone who is interested in taking part should contact the Road Running Manager via the club website.
We hope to see you there!
