July 2024 Club Record-Breakers

Posted on 07/08/2024

TRACK – MEN

Dave Smith continued to build on his 400m record captured last month, and is reaping the benefits of work with the Sprints Group. Dave improved his own V35 200m record with a time of 23.60 seconds in the Northern League. In addition to this, Dave claimed two previously unclaimed V35 records for both the 300m and 800m. Fantastic effort Dave!

Matthew Lynas claimed the outdoor track 5,000m record in the V55 category with a sub-19-minute time in the Northern League at Sport City.

Finally on the track, Ashley Pritchard really needs his very own monthly update! Ashley claimed 11 track records this month, including 3 records over the summer, and a further 9 from previous years. Ashley ran a sub-13 second 100m in the V40 category, breaking a record held by Jonnie Plumb for over 9 years.

Ashley also claimed the 400m V40 record from Jonnie at the Northern Masters in Leigh, with a time of 61.38 seconds. Finally, the 110m Hurdles record held since 2014 was shattered by almost 4 seconds. Ashley claimed this record at the Run, Jump, Throw event in Sheffield with a time of 17.75 seconds.

Further details of Ashley’s prior year achievements on the track can be viewed in the Monthly Records link and pdf document.

TRACK – WOMEN

Hilary West once again claimed several records on the track with the most recent record in the 800m V65 category. Barbara Murray had held the record for the last 12 months with a time of 3:39.00. Hilary improved this further with a time of 3:25.40 at Sport City in Manchester.

Hilary also claimed multiple records on the track from prior years, across distances ranging from 200m through to 1500m. Hilary had particular success on the Indoor tracks, and details of these accomplishments can also be viewed in the Monthly Records link and pdf document.

FIELD – MEN

Further to Ashley Pritchard’s success on the track, Ashley claimed a further 21 records this month in field events across Senior, V35 and V40 categories. Ashley improved the V40 Long Jump record that had been in place since the start of the millennium with a jump of 5.36m in the Northern League at Macclesfield.

A further 20 records were claimed across multiple field events between 2007 and 2022 at events across the globe! Please see the monthly summary for further details. Truly spectacular achievements!

FIELD – WOMEN

In July, Caroline Gisby set a new High Jump record in the V45 category in the Cheshire Track & Field event at Ellesmere Port. Also, this month, Hilary West set a new Shot Put record in the V65 category at Sport City. Hilary also claimed prior year records in the Shot and Discus in the V55 age category. Many congratulations to these athletes.

ROAD

Matthew Lynas followed on from his success on the track, with an excellent performance on the road at the Cheshire 10-Miler. Matthew improved a 10-Mile record in the V55 category that had been held for 18 years, by almost 4 minutes with fabulous time of 61:49!
