Twenty Macclesfield Harriers travelled to the ever-popular Mobberley ‘Round the Runway’ 5 on Tuesday evening. Whatever the weather elsewhere, flying into Manchester Airport invariably means arriving to grey skies and rain. This proved to be the case for this race around the perimeter of Manchester’s second runway. Despite Monday’s scorching heat, overcast conditions and a light smattering of rain had replaced the previous day’s bright sunshine!
The first Harrier to land was Mark Walker who flew around the course in 28:48. He was followed by Jordan Cooper who overcame the turbulence of a calf issue to finish in 30:31, and Matt Lynas who finished in 30:42.
Our first lady to touch down at the finish line was Caroline Gisby in a time of 40:40. She was followed by Michelle Birdsall in 41:56, and Elaine Pettie in 42:50.
Flying is always better with friends, and this was demonstrated by Valerie Kulkarni, Val Poole, and Dawn Brown who all crossed the finish line together!
Three of our members finished in first place in their age categories! Caroline Gisby was 1st FV45, Mark Walker was 1st MV45, and Matt Lynas was 1st MV55. Michelle Birdsall and Graeme Eddie also recorded great age category results finishing 2nd FV45 and 3rd MV45, respectively.
Congratulations to all who took part and represented the club with strong performances. Full results are available here.
