On Saturday 21st June 2025, the Inter-Counties Junior Fell Race took place at Clougha Pike, Lancashire, as part of the Summer Fell Series.
Cheshire had excellent representation from Macclesfield Harriers delivering standout performances across multiple age categories with Martha Wood running in U15, Jake Ireland, Thomas Wood, George O’Donnell and Daisy Whittington in U17 and Michael Wood in U19.
Despite the hot and humid conditions, the athletes rose to the challenge of the demanding course with grit and determination.
There was great running all round and individual medals for Jake (1st) and Thomas (2nd), with the boys also contributing to team gold for Cheshire boys U15 and silver for U19 boys. With one race remaining in the series – at Tebay on Saturday 12th July – there’s still time for young runners to get involved.
The series features races for age groups from U9 through to U19, offering a fantastic opportunity for junior athletes to experience the thrill of fell running.
