May 2025 Club Record-Breakers

Posted on 14 Jun at 8:08 pm

TRACK – MEN

Another quiet month on the Track, with Matthew Lynas as the sole record-breaker in May!

Matthew blazed the trail on the Ellesmere Port track at the Cheshire County Championships, claiming not one, but two V55 track records on the same day!

Firstly, in the 1500m, Matthew set a record of 5:09.99 taking almost 14 seconds off the previous record. Matthew then improved his own 5000m record with a time of 18:20, improving his previous best by almost 30 seconds! A tremendous achievement to claim two records on the same day!

FIELD – MEN

In the Field, it was the turn of David Smith, who was jumping for joy in May!

David claimed the V35 Long Jump record at the Cheshire Championships, and then went one better at the Cheshire Grand Prix in Macclesfield, jumping 5.95m.

Congratulations David, and a jump over 6m is surely within reach!

ROAD

Finally, on the Road, it was truly a meritorious month of May for Matthew Lynas. Matthew improved his own 5K record set in May 2024 by almost a whole minute in the Runthrough Chase at Tatton Park.

Matthew recorded a time of 18:04 and claimed the V55 record in the process. Amazing achievement.
