Cheshire Track & Field Championships 10th/11th May 2025
What a fantastic weekend of athletics we had at Ellesmere Port! Macclesfield fielded a team of 50 athletes from all age groups, some of whom were competing for the first time. Overall we won 68 medals, with 59 personal best performances on the day.
In his first run out this season for the U11s, Liam Labrosse won GOLD in the Long Jump and 75m and Ella-Rose Melvin claimed BRONZE in the 75m.
The U13 Boys won 10 medals overall, with Ben Hunsley claiming GOLD in Long Jump, High Jump and 75m Hurdles, Silver in 200m and Bronze in Discus. Gus Fisher claimed SILVER in both the 800m and 1500m with fabulous PBs in both races. George Allen won BRONZE in the Shot and came 5th in the Discus on his first time out. Ethan Beran won BRONZE in the High Jump and narrowly missed out on BRONZE in the 200m coming in just behind Ben. Archie Guest continued to show promise in his first year of competition with a BRONZE in the 75m Hurdles and PBs in the High Jump and 200m. Oscar and Lewis Furness showed typical grit in the 1500m, both achieving PBs with Oscar just missing out on breaking the illusive 5-minute barrier.
The U13 Girls also put out a strong team winning 8 medals overall, with Georgia Evans claiming SILVER in the 75m and Long Jump and BRONZE in the 150m. Phoebe Adams-Mercer won BRONZE with a PB in the 1200m. Martha Wood claimed further middle distance success with a SILVER in the 800m, with Bea Mellor and Mia Labrosse also achieving PBs in the same race. Emma Bedoya won SILVER in the High Jump and achieved a season’s best in the Long Jump. Amelie Whelan rounded off the medals with SILVER in the 70m Hurdles and narrowly missed out on medals in the 75m and 150m.
The U15 Boys claimed 8 medals overall, with GOLD for Samuel Savage in the Shot and Discus, SILVER in the 80m Hurdles and 100m and BRONZE in the Long Jump. Tomas Bedoya won GOLD in the High Jump, SILVER in the Long Jump and SILVER in the 200m despite getting a faster time in his heat. Eric Dickinson and Alex Ervine improved again, both achieving PBs in the 800m and 1500m respectively.
For the U15 Girls, Katie Borg-Heffernan claimed our only medal with a fabulous BRONZE in the Javelin. Lauren Harper narrowly missed out on a medal in the Javelin coming in 4th with a PB and Eryn Mitchell achieved a PB in the 200m. Lara Adu-Gyamfi completed the girls team and was frustrated not to claim a PB due to wind assistance.
The U17 Boys put in a strong team of 7 boys and claimed 8 medals. On the track, Jake Ireland won GOLD in the 1500m and 3000m, achieving PBs in both. There was more success in middle and long distance, with BRONZE medals for Jared Dickinson in the 1500m and George O’Donnell in the 3000m. Chris Melvin claimed SILVER in both the 100m and 200m, achieving PBs in both sprints. Oliver Stewart (100m) and Thomas Wood (800m) both claimed impressive PBs. In the field, Tristan Lamprecht continued his come back from injury, claiming an impressive 3 GOLD medals in the 100m Hurdles, Discus and Javelin.
Despite only having two athletes, the U17 Girls claimed an impressive 3 medals, with Lizzie Pendrill claiming GOLD in the 300m Hurdles and BRONZE in the 300m. Flo Beard also achieved PBs in the 300m Hurdles (claiming a SILVER medal) and 200m.
The U20 and Senior Men had a fantastic day, winning 16 medals overall. Hayden Blunn (U20) claimed GOLD in High Jump and Long Jump, SILVER in Discus and Shot and BRONZE in Javelin. Matt Walker (U20) claimed GOLD in the 1500m and Joseph Nwankwo (U20) just missed out on the medals in the Javelin with a new PB throw. For the seniors, Ashley Pritchard claimed an impressive GOLD in Discus and Pole Vault and SILVER in Javelin and Shot Putt. On the track, Dave Smith won GOLD in the 100m, Nick Blore GOLD in the 200m, Ian Fisher BRONZE in the 1500m and Mark Walker SILVER in the 5000m. In the field, Dave Smith won GOLD in the Long Jump and Dan Hunsley was surprised with his BRONZE in the Javelin. Matt Lynas achieved impressive new PBs in the 1500m and 5000m but just missed out on the medals.
The U20 and Senior Ladies put in another strong performance, winning 11 medals between them. For the U20s, Eliza Duffy continued to impress in the sprints with SILVER in the 100m, 200m and 400m achieving PBs in all three races. Millie Egerton also put in PB performances, claiming SILVER in the Hammer and BRONZE in the 100m. Tara Hulme just missed out on the medals, with a season’s best in the 100m. For the Seniors, Lisa Hunsley claimed GOLD in the 100m and SILVER in the Discus. Faye Sharpley won GOLD in the 1500m and BRONZE in the 400m. Caroline Gisby claimed SILVER in the Javelin and BRONZE in the Shot. Nicky Tasker just missed out on the medals with a season’s best in the Hammer.
