Boxing Day Festive Fun Run

For 2024 the Boxing Day run will be a simple ‘festive fun run’ – this change is necessary due to EA guidelines and insurance considerations as non club members are attending – a reflection of the world we live in.

It is hoped to return to the handicap format in 2025 when an event licence will be in place. So, for this year please come along (pre-register here to run or help) and have a fun run around the course followed by a social in the Cricket Club.

The route traditionally starts by the Methodist Church on Cock Hall Lane, Langley and finishes by The Leather’s Smithy (organiser’s decision) – it is a mix of quiet lanes and a forest trail. After the run there is usually a ‘social’ gathering to discuss the run and present the prizes!

2024 – Organiser (Sally Ann Hales) and venue (Langley Cricket Club).

Note: This year the event is a ‘club social run’ and NOT a handicap race – this is due to EA guidelines and Insurance requirements as non-club members are attending. It is hoped to return to the Handicap format in 2025 (with an event licence in place).

Pre-registration preferred – Pre-Registration Form (to run or help)

Registration: Cricket Club, 9.00-9.45am (Macclesfield Harriers Club Members and close family/friends only)

Parking: Limited spaces at the cricket club, some spaces on Cock Hall Lane and roadside parking in the village (please be sensitive to residents).

Donations: Any donations will be split between East Cheshire Hospice & British Heart Foundation

Helpers are needed – please contact Sally using the contact form.

Fancy Dress welcome.

Start – 10.00am outside Methodist Church – there will be qualified run leaders present. There will be ‘spot prizes’.

Social in the Cricket Club afterwards…the bar will be open!

The route was changed in 2022 to end by the Leathers’ Smithy pub (on the track) to avoid the final road section (busy traffic).

Note: In the event of bad weather/ice there may be an alternative route proposed.
