Running since 1896
Although the club can trace its roots back to 1896, it was reformed in 1945 immediately after the Second World War.
The following articles record the club’s progress since 1945. The first few articles cover the period 1945 to 1984 and appeared in the Club magazine, written by Arthur Evans. Bob Lynch took up the story in 1986 with a further series of articles in the magazine. Part 8 covers the important period in the Club’s history when fundraising and campaigning began for a purpose-built track, which was finally completed in 1999 (see Part 9).
As you will see the articles have some overlap in dates: as noted in Part 6 this repetition was intended to help new members who had not read the previous parts.
