Andrew Heywood Memorial Windgather Fell Race Sunday 13th October 2024
Thanks very much to all of you who ran. Hopefully your race went well ! and you managed a bit of tea and cake afterwards….. Apologies to those of you who were sent the wrong way when someone chose to move one of the arrows…. Sorry about that, it’s the first time it’s happened for a while. For those of you in the second half of the field who went the right way, the photo shows what you missed.
As always, the race couldn’t take place without the help of many folk, not least Andy Collier and all at Buxton Rotary and Round Table who provided the marshals and finish folk, and also the post-race refreshments. We had several marshals from Macc Harriers, including our sweepers Gillian and Kathleen who were out longer than any of you, huge thanks to them, but perhaps the biggest thanks is to Egg Cameron (assisted by Digby the ginormous hound….) who masterminded everything on the day much better than I would have done.
We have a small amount of kit left at the finish, much of which we know the owner of, but if you’ve lost anything do get in touch.
Results attached, these will appear on the Fell Runners Association website soon.
All being well, from the entries and refreshments we’ll have raised something around £1000 which will be passed on to Buxton Rotary to donate to charitable causes both locally and further afield, that’s down to all of you, so huge thanks for your support.
