15 Macclesfield Harriers made the trip to Stockport for Woodbank parkrun #780, the latest fixture in our Road Running Club Championship. This parkrun goes through two separate parks – Woodbank Park which is flat and grassy and the leafier but hillier Vernon Park. With long straight sections, sharp descents, and steep climbs on cobbles, this parkrun offers something for everyone!
The first and second ladies were both Macclesfield Harriers. Faye Sharpley completed the course in 20:43 and Kristy Thorp was just behind her, completing the course in a time of 21:01. Our third lady was Sue Stockdale who finished in a time of 23:17.
Dave Chambers was the first Macclesfield Harrier to cross the finish line, finishing far ahead of his teammates in a time of 19:58. However, there was a fierce battle for the next few positions. Tom Shirley ran a strong race, keeping his teammates at arms’ length, finishing in a time of 21:45. However, only 5 seconds separated our next three men with Carl Barnard pulling ahead of Duncan James and Owain Morris in the final kilometre to finish in a time of 21:58.
Well done to all Macclesfield Harriers who competed at Woodbank parkrun. All of our members either recorded a course PB (6) or were attending this parkrun for the first time (9). Full results can be found here.
