Wilmslow Running Festival 2024

Posted on 29/03/2024

Alongside Ray O’Keefe and Fran Pryatt, I was privileged to marshal the half marathon and witness you all race past. You all went by so quickly that I don’t think we managed to spot you all; however, it was great fun cheering you on in the sunshine!

There were some great results in both the half marathon and the 10k as your combined efforts led to some brilliant team results. A huge congratulations goes to the ladies’ 10k team who stormed to first place. Kristy Gill, Eva Mion, and Sue Stockdale’s combined gun time was over 15 minutes quicker than that of the second-placed Buxton AC’s ladies’ team!

Team Overall Position
Ladies’ 10k 1st
Men’s 10k –
Ladies’ Half Marathon 17th
Men’s Half Marathon 9th

5 women and 1 man completed the 10k while 14 women and 17 men completed the Half Marathon, including 6 men who completed it in less than 80 minutes! The following people also won age-category prizes: Kristy Gill (10k, V45, 1st), Sue Stockdale (10k, V50, 1st), Matt Lynas (Half Marathon, V55, 3rd), Harry Newton (Half Marathon, V85, 1st) Congratulations! A huge shout out to Eva Mion who was the first Harrier, male or female, across the finish line in the 10k according to chip time. This is a wonderful achievement for someone competing as an U20 – we look forward to seeing what you can achieve throughout the year!

Macclesfield Harriers Road Running Championships 2024

The next three races in the road race calendar are all part of the Cheshire Grand Prix. With the women’s and men’s team occupying 3rd and 5th spots, respectively, we have a great chance of team podium spots this year. It would be great to see as many of you as possible at these races.  The races are Chester Spring 5 (April 10th), and Christleton 5k (May 17th), Dunham Massey 5k (June 6th). We hope to see you there!
