Warrington parkrun

Posted on 21/07/2024

Warrington parkrun (event #481) was designated as a Cheshire Grand Prix race this weekend. As such, 7 Macclesfield Harriers and runners from across Cheshire descended on Victoria Park, a large park in the centre of Warrington, to represent their clubs. This is a relatively quick course which takes in 2 short laps of the park before joining a cycle path, crossing an energy-sapping grassy section, and heading back towards the centre of Victoria Park.

Macclesfield Harriers made their intentions known from the start with Matthew Walker, George O’Donnell, and James Perry lining up at the very front of the start line. Their fast start paid off as they finished as the 2nd, 3rd, and 7th men, respectively!  Emma Galleymore was our fastest lady.

There was plenty of individual age-grade success. Matthew Walker and George O’Donnell were the 1st and 2nd U20 males while Emma Galleymore was the 2nd V40 female, James Perry was the 2nd V40 male, and Graeme Eddie was the 3rd V45 male. Congratulations to all who ran for some impressive times.

These individual successes led to wonderful team success as the men’s team of Matthew Walker, George O’Donnell, James Perry, and Graeme Eddie pipped the South Cheshire Harriers to first place in this round of the Cheshire Grand Prix. Congratulations gents for a fantastic team performance!
