The rain finally stopped in time for the Tegg’s Nose Fell Race after a week of heavy downpours. A big thank you to all the landowners who allowed us to run across their land, and to all those who helped organise and marshal the race this year.
Thanks as well to the runners for supporting the event! I’ve already had a couple of emails from runners who I don’t know, who have asked that I pass on their thanks to all the people involved on the day. It’s when you receive these messages you realise it’s all worth it in the end.
The winner of the race was Damian Nicholls (Wilmslow RC) who won in 57.15, followed by Jason Brunnock (Buxton AC) in second place and Noel Curtis (Pennine) in third.
Rachel Hall of Macclesfield Harriers was first lady home, with Kate Davies (Unattached) second lady and Harriet Pickup (Boalloy) was third lady. Congratulations to Rachel who had never run the course before and hadn’t known what to expect.
In the veterans’ class, Chris Moss (Congleton Harriers) was first MV40. Andy Gibbs (Vale Royal) was first MV50 repeating last year’s result. First MV50 was John Burt (Unattached) and Geoff Norman (Altrincham District AC) was the first sprightly MV70.
First FV40 was Sally Rigby (Boalloy), Natalie Abbott (Unattached) was first LV50 and Anne-Marie Jones (Macclesfield Harriers) was first LV60 repeating last year’s result too. Well done ladies!
Andy Kenyon was first local and hasn’t claimed his prize (please contact me).

For next year, I plan to learn the route better and be able to know exactly where to send each marshall when they ask me! Thanks all for bearing with me, and again for all your help.
This year’s charity for the proceeds of Tegg’s Nose Race is East Cheshire Hospice@Home. We raised just over £250.
