Macclesfield parkrun was designated as a Road Running Club Championship race this weekend, and a grand total of 28 Harriers made their way down to our local parkrun. It was great to see so many of you on Saturday morning. The sun shone brightly highlighting the beauty of South Park but also serving to make the notoriously hilly course even tougher!
Jordan Cooper was first across the finish line in a time of 17:18 while Matthew Walker finished second in 18:04, Mark Walker in sixth was the third Harrier across the line with a time of 18.29. Egg Cameron was the first lady across the line in a time of 22:07, Sue Stockdale was the 3rd lady and 2nd Harrier in a time of 22:20 with Hannah Graves hot on her heels in a time of 22:23. Sally Ann Hales (23:48) and Jordan Cooper both set new course PBs, a fantastic achievement in this morning’s heat! Congratulations to all for some impressive performances!

The next race in the road running club championships is Crewe parkrun on Saturday, September 14th. This is also the last race in this year’s Cheshire Grand Prix. It’d be great to see as many of you as possible there as we aim to end the season strongly. The next two races after this are the Congleton Half Marathon on Sunday, October 6th and our very own Macclesfield Running Festival on Sunday, October 27th.
We also have the opportunity to compete in the North West Road Running Relays at Edge Hill University on Sunday, September 8th. This is open to both men and women from U11s through to seniors with the club covering the entry cost of all who wish to compete. More information will follow soon but if you are interested in taking part, please contact the road running manager via the club website.
