June / July 2025 Club Record-Breakers

Posted on 21 Jul at 5:00 pm

TRACK – MEN

Our very own mid-distance track star athlete, Jake Rowley has claimed yet another 800m Club Record!

As a new entry in both the British Milers Club (BMC), and year 1 of the U20 age-group, Jake set a new U20 record of 1:54.54 at the BMC event in Loughborough in June 2025, qualifying for English Schools as a result.

Jake now holds the U15, U17 and U20 records and is hoping to improve this even further during this outdoor season!

TRACK – WOMEN

It was the turn of Faye Sharpley on the track in July 2025 as Faye set a new outdoor 400m record in the V40 age category in the Northern League.

The previous record of 64.7 seconds held by our very own Barbara Murray had been in place for almost 25 years since the turn of the millennium! Faye set a fabulous new time of 61.7 seconds on our home track in July 2025 is now the record-holder in both the V35 and V40 outdoor 400m categories.

FIELD – MEN

In the Field, it was dominated by the throwing events, and one athlete in particular!

Samuel Savage had an excellent few months in both the Shot and Discus events.

In the Shot event, Samuel initially improved the existing record of 12.09m with a throw of 12.27m and PB performance at the Cheshire County Championships in May 2025, claiming 1st place in the process.

At the English Schools Championships event in July 2025, no doubt buoyed by the occasion, Samuel threw an incredible 12.85m, setting a new PB and new and improved U15 Club Record!

Equally impressive was Samuel’s performances in the Discus event. Having set an initial U15 record of 32.28m in April 2025, Samuel then improved this further in both May and June 2025 at the Northern Inter-County Champs and YDL events respectively. The new Club Record now stands at a whopping 39.56m and a throw more than 40 metres is now surely in Samuel’s sights!

A very special mention should also go to Tristan Lamprecht during this update. Tristan took the U17 Javelin title in the Staffordshire County Schools Championships with a PB throw of 49.52m! The personal best performance also eclipsed the existing record of 49.40m that had been in place for 19 years!

Tristan Lamprecht - Javelin - June 2025

Very many congratulations to Samuel and Tristan on their performances and record-breaking achievements.

FIELD – WOMEN

In the Field, and also in the Javelin event, it was also the turn of Lisa Hunsley to put in record-breaking performances during June 2025.

Lisa initially improved the existing record of 14.41m set in June 2021 by a further metre, with a distance of 15.40m at the Joe Moran Memorial Meeting.

However, only a couple of weeks later, and surely after a bowl of three Shredded Wheat, Lisa threw a huge 19.10m, improving her own V45 record by almost 4 metres! Truly tremendous throwing!

ROAD

Finally, on the Road, Rob Whitby had noted a gap in the market in the 15K road race events.

The V35 15K Road event record was previously unclaimed, however Rob has put an excellent marker down with a time of 57:10 in the Meerbrook 15K in June 2025. Well done Rob!

Very many congratulations to these athletes and their achievements!
