Six Macclesfield Harriers travelled to Standon in Staffordshire to take part in the scenic but brutal Flying Fox 10 Miles. There was barely a flat section on this undulating course, and there was even a 2-mile hill climb with a non-negotiable puddle to contend with halfway through! On the plus side, all the hills meant that there wonderful views of the autumnal Staffordshire countryside and plenty of fast downhill sections!
This race was also a designated Inter-Counties Race. Rob Whitby and Mark Walker were both selected to don Cheshire’s black and yellow against North Wales and Staffordshire’s finest. Congratulations to you both for your selection to represent the county!
Rob Whitby was the first Macclesfield Harrier across the finish line, completing the course in a time of 58:30. He was followed by Mark Walker in 59:09 and Steve Lomas in 72:27. Our fastest lady was Sue Stockdale who crossed the finish line in a time of 78:16.
Congratulations to everyone for your performances. Full results can be found here.

The standings for the 2025 Road Running Championship will be updated after every race and can be accessed at the link below. Owain Morris became the 14th man to complete six qualifying races while seven different women have completed six qualifying races.
Although the top three in both the men’s and women’s open championship has already been decided, there is still plenty to decide as the season draws to a close. With two races of the season left, who will make a final dash up the leaderboard?
