Usually populated only by docile deer after closing time, the splendid grounds of, the National Trust property, Dunham Massey were taken over by runners from across Cheshire on Thursday evening. This is a quick, looped course which provides the opportunity to run down the main driveway towards the grand Dunham Massey mansion three times.
It was great to field a full women’s team and two complete men’s teams. Almost 1 in 20 of the competitors was a Macclesfield Harrier! Congratulations to all who turned up for some fantastic racing.
Our fastest three ladies were Eva Mion (19:20, 3rd lady and 1st U20), Sue Stockdale (21:13, 3rd v50 lady), and Emma Galleymore (23:36) while our three fastest men were Rob Whitby (16:56), George O’Donnell (17:40, 1st U20), and Ewan Edmondson (17:48).
Both Under 20s who raced, George O’Donnell and Eva Mion, finished first in their age category. A feat made even more impressive when considering that both compete as Under 15s! Coming back from an injury, George was only 4 seconds away from a 5k PB while Eva was able to shave a whole minute off her 5k PB and finished as 3rd lady overall! We look forward to seeing their racing go from strength to strength in the years to come.
