Buxton Half Marathon 2025

Posted on 31 May at 6:19 pm

Twelve Macclesfield Harriers took part in the Buxton Half Marathon last weekend. This is a hilly course which includes more than 500 meters of elevation, so personal bests are unlikely; however, our runners still recorded some excellent times!

Ciaran Wright was the first Macclesfield Harrier to cross the line, finishing in an impressive time of 01:25:08. He was followed by David Chambers in 01:32:30 and Graeme Eddie in 01:37:05.

Our fastest lady was Helen Saunders who completed the race in 01:40:30. She was followed by Andrea Lynes 01:50:02 and Ruth Gamwell in 02:03:55.

There were also great age grade results for our members. Andrea Lynes was the first FV55 and Ruth Gamwell was the first FV50 while Helen Saunders was second senior female and Steve Lomas was third MV55.

Congratulations to all who took part and represented the club with strong performances. Full results are available here.

The standings for the 2025 Road Running Championship will be updated after every race and can be accessed at the link below. Graeme Eddie and Sue Stockdale have become the first people to complete six qualifying races and are currently top of the men and women’s standings, respectively. However, with three races coming up in the next two weeks and extra points available in Cheshire Grand Prix races positions could change very quickly!

2025 Road Running Championship Standings

Marathon results also count for points in this year’s Road Running Club Championships, so please submit your results to the Road Running Manager, Owain Morris, if you would like your score to be added. Thank you to everyone who has submitted their results so far!

The 2025 fixture list is available here. Our next few races are:

  • Dunham Massey 5k, June 5th (Cheshire GP)
  • Meerbrook 15k, June 8th
  • Colshaw Hall 10k, June 15th

We look forward to racing with you soon!
