Boxing Day Run 2024

Posted on 2 Jan at 9:53 am

The annual Boxing Day run in Langley was organised as a social run this year. Sally Ann Hales organised the run and the post-run social was in Langley Cricket Club.

There were 28 runners and the run raised £102.50 for charity. Times were recorded by runners themselves (this year there was no ‘handicap’ element – it was just a social club run).

George O’Donnell was a star running round in 20m17s

For future reference, these were the times recorded by Sally Ann and George.

1. George O’Donnell      20.17
2. Jonathan Metcalfe     21.50

27. Adrian Finn              36.46
28. Janet Mott                50.16 (set off early but took pictures especially of the Brocken Spectre).

The runners got to see clear skies above the other weather inversion phenomenon.

Thanks goes to our marshals,  Jo Loftus, Chris Pattison, Sue, Greg, Jo and Pip Rowson, Kathleen (top of the hill cheer leader) O’Donnell and Steve Mott and his brother.

We gave spot prizes drawn out of a hat to many of the runners.

Thanks also goes to Barry Pattison and Langley Cricket club for hosting the event.

Below are a few pictures taken (thanks to Kathleen O’Donnell). Cover picture courtesy of Hanging Gate Inn (to show it was sunny high up).
