Introducing Macclesfield Harrier, Alannah Birtwistle. Alannah swept the board at the Macclesfield Harriers awards night in March and has recently been appointed MH Women’s Fell Captain!
This is what Alannah had to say;
Q1: When did you start running?
Alannah: I started running in 2015 with the occasional park run at Congleton and later that year joined Macclesfield Harriers to take part in the cross country season.
Q2: What has been your favourite race and why?
Alannah: I am not sure I can pick out a favourite race, I love all races – maybe not whilst running them. I love the ‘buzz’ and seeing so many people out doing what we enjoy. I have done a huge variety of races, and love to search for a race to do on holiday – maybe one favourites was a mountain marathon in Austria as the views and sense of achievement were incredible. But I think our local fell races can be just as great!
Q3: What does running mean to you?
Alannah: I can’t imagine not running anymore. Running is my escape, fitness and my social life! And when i’m not running, volunteering at races/Parkrun is something I enjoy – especially cheering everyone on.
Q4: Do you have a top tip for other runners?
Alannah: Go and explore the trails and hills on our doorstep.
