Track & Field

The club has a strong Track & Field section, including over 200 junior members (U11 to U20). Over the summer, we compete in two different leagues and a Grand Prix series across all age groups:

  • Cheshire T&F Grand Prix – U11 to Senior
  • Youth Development League – U13 & U15
  • Northern T&F League – U17 to Senior

Our athletes can also enter county, regional and national T&F championships.

Over the winter, our athletes compete in indoor T&F, including open events and championships. Further details on the different types of competition and our current fixture list are provided here:

We hold regular coached training sessions on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, as well as occasional event-specific training sessions at weekends.

Club Track & Field Awards

Throughout the season our members can accumulate points based on their performances in club competitions (i.e. T&F leagues, Grand Prix series and championships). At the end of the season, we hold an annual awards dinner, where prizes are awarded for coming 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each gender / age group, based on the total points accumulated. There are also ‘special awards’ for different categories covering all disciplines e.g. ‘Best Newcomer’, ‘Most Improved Athlete, etc.

Further details of the Club T&F Awards and the current live league table are provided in the following links:

T&F Team Managers, Officials & and Volunteers 2024-2025

Interval training at the track each week is designed for all running abilities and assists in improving technique, speed, strength and power to enhance racing performance whether on the road, fell, trail, track or at cross-country.

Attendance at the track interval night also allows members to talk to and befriend other club members who, otherwise, they might not necessarily get to meet, given the wide range of abilities and groups within the club.  Such nights often feel like the beating heart of the club and chat constantly prevails about previous weeks’ races and of upcoming events.

See the ‘Contact Us‘ section for details of the senior coaches.
