April 2026 Club Record-Breakers Update

Posted on 2 hours ago

TRACK – MEN

What better way to kick off my final update, than with a slightly biased update on my Jake!

At the Trafford Grand Prix in April, Jake Rowley claimed his 11th club record to date, with a new outdoor U20 1500m PB time of 3:57.19. The previous record of 3:59.09 held by Declan Murray had stood for the last 16 years.

Jake has previously been a 400m / 800m athlete, however, is now also increasing distance and bringing the 1500m into his training. Look out for more great performances throughout the summer as Jake, like many other younger athletes, has the additional challenge of balancing their academic studies with their athletics. Best of luck to all in this position.

Keep up to date and continue supporting Jake’s journey on his new TikTok channel: JRowley_Runs.

Tristan Lamprecht continues his impressive progress as an exceptional all-round athlete claiming two further indoor records in this update. While both of the records were in the 60m, one was on the flat, and the other on the jumps!

Firstly, Tristan shaved 3/100th of a second off the existing U17 60m record with a new time of 7.38 seconds in the Indoor Open at Sportcity.

Even more impressive, Tristan also performed admirably at the England Athletics National Championships in Sheffield. On his way to reaching the final, Tristan set a new 60m indoor hurdles record of 8.17 seconds.

Finally, on the track Thomas Harper claimed a previously unclaimed 150m indoor record in the U20 age-group category. Thomas ran a time of 18.78 seconds in the Northern Athletics Indoor Open, Sheffield in November last year. There are several other unclaimed records across this distance so why not give it a try and become a Club record-breaker yourself?!

TRACK – WOMEN

On the track for the women, it was Lisa Hunsley leading the charge, with a further couple of record-breaking performances indoors in the V45 category.

Firstly, Lisa claimed a previously unclaimed 60m indoor track record at the Manchester Indoor Open, Sportcity with a time of 9.6 seconds. Not satisfied with this, Lisa returned to the same venue two weeks later, and shaved a further 10th of a second off this, improving her own record to 9.5 seconds! Congratulations to all these track athletes.

FIELD – MEN

In the Field, we have new records in both the throws and the jumps!

Getting us off the mark, is Archie Davies in the indoor Shot Put event. Archie set a new record of 7.94m in the U13 age-group at the Northern Athletics Indoor Open, Sheffield. The previous record held by Morgan Frith, had been in place for more than 9 years! Well done, Archie!

In the jumps, a couple of previously unclaimed records were captured early this calendar year.

Firstly, David Smith put a marker down in the V35 Triple Jump event at the Northern Senior Indoor Champs in Sheffield. David jumped an impressive 12.31m indoors in January and is currently ranked No.2 on Power of 10!

Finally, in the Field, it was the turn of Ben Hunsley who competed at the Manchester Indoor Open event at Sportcity in March. Ben can run, jump and throw, proving he is an all-round athlete. This time it was in the High Jump event, where Ben claimed a previously unclaimed U13 record, with a jump of 1.4m!

ROAD

On the Road, it was the Marks making their mark, with this update almost entirely monopolised by one in particular!

Mark Walker has cleared up in the V45 category with records claimed from the 10,000m (sprint!) all the way up to the Marathon, and everything in between!

In the 10K event at Trafford in March this year, Mark improved the existing record by a further 8 seconds with a time of 33:32! In the 15K, the improvement was a fraction more substantial! Mark shattered a record that had stood for almost 5 years by more than 14 minutes, with a new sub-1-hour time of 57:53 at the Merebrook 15K!

Stepping up a little further, in the 10-Mile Flying Fox event, Mark claimed a previously unclaimed record again under 1-hour, with a time of 59:09.

In the Half-Marathon event, the record of 1:13.40 held since 2012 was also captured by Mark, with an impressive time of 1:13.04.

Finally, in the Marathon, Mark hopped on a plane in February and travelled to beautiful, sunny Seville setting a new Club record in the process! Mark claimed the prestigious marathon record with a time of 2:36.03 at the Zurich Maratón de Sevilla.

Not to be completely outdone by his namesake, Mark Burley also achieved a remarkable record in the 4-Mile event in April this year at the Halewood Fab Four. The existing record of 22:01 in the V35 age-group had been in place for almost 16 years, however this was eclipsed by a further 35 seconds! Mark set a new time (if my maths are correct!) of 21:26 that I expect will take some beating. Well done, Marks!

Also in the Road category, there were two records claimed for Kristy Thorp from late last year.

Kristy ran the 10K at the Essar Guilden Sutton 10K event in September and set a new V50 age-group record of 41.31. The previous record of 42:47 was recorded almost nine years earlier so quite an achievement to not only break this record but do so by more than a full minute.

Almost exactly one month later, Kristy took part in our very own Macclesfield Half-Marathon in October, smashing the previous Club record set only a few months earlier. Kristy recorded a time of 1:32.31, improving on the previous record by almost 6 minutes.

Somebody definitely got a new pair of trainers that day and judging by what I have seen on Power of 10 in 2026, I don’t think this will be the last update with a mention for Kristy in the 10K!

SPORTS HALL

Closing my final (bumper) update and serving as a reminder that we have a full list of Club Sports Hall records, is Ben Hunsley. Ben set a new Vertical Jump record of 56cm in the U13 age-group at the Crewe Lifestyle Centre in November last year. Very well-done Ben on another Club record!

Club Record-Breakers – April 2026 Update

In my final update in this role, I would like to say what a privilege it has been to witness all of these incredible achievements from some exceptional athletes. Whether you have claimed a Club record, a PB, represented your club or country or have simply competed, they are all fabulous achievements.

Remember, if you don’t get that PB, podium or Club record this time, don’t worry. Your athletics journey is not determined by a single performance. Keep training hard and striving to get a little better each time and maybe it will come next time.

Have a look at what Armand Duplantis (or Mondo) is doing in the Pole Vault! He breaks a world record, then still wants to break it again next time. If he doesn’t, he keeps going until he does!

Hopefully, the Club records provide you with some inspiration and motivation to go one better each time you perform!

I wish you well for the outdoor season, and the rest of your athletics careers, and to hopefully seeing new records set whether this is at Club, County or National level!

Best wishes.

Jim. Your (retired) Club Statistician.
