A beautiful evening again in Rainow for this 5-mile friendly fell race. With a new race pre-entry limit for this year, this meant that the
parking, registration, start and the route were a little less crowded than last year and great chance for all the runners to socialise
post-race as well as enjoy the great cakes! A massive thank you to my fellow Macclesfield Harriers who made this event run
smoothly again this year.
We had 205 runners – with a large contingent of Macclesfield Harriers racing (45), we also had plenty of runners from other local
clubs including Wilmslow, Chorlton, Sale and Bollington Harriers. Chris Lehoczki (Macclesfield Harriers) was first home in 33:43
and the first lady was Rosie Bradshaw (Stockport Harriers) in 40:21 who was also 1 st FU20. Macclesfield Harriers again claimed
both the men’s and the ladies’ team prizes (Chris Lehoczki, Fin Pettie, Nathanael Booker, Simon Harding and Ruth Wilkinson,
Helen Saunders, Angela Markley, Rachel Mundy). This year we had 3 MU20s, 5 FU20s and 5 MV70s; Fin Pettie was 1 st MU20 and
Andy Watts was 1 st MV70.
A big thank you to Running Bear for continued support providing numbers and coveted sock prizes as well as Red Willow brewery for
beer prizes. The Rainow pre-school excelled again with a fantastic array of cakes being enjoyed. It was also special to welcome
Macclesfield Harriers Rob Hasler and Brian West and their families to attend to receive donations to their GoFundMe campaigns
and for them to enjoy the racing atmosphere as they both are living with MND. Please see their GoFundMe pages to follow their
stories: #TeamHaslerMND and #WestWarrriersMND”. From entrance fees as well as fantastic cakes, the race raised £2,800. On
the night donations were presented to representatives from local charities/organisations: £400 to Buxton Mountain Rescue who are
our local rescue team, £250 Rainow Village institute, £250 to Rainow school, £850 to Rainow Pre-school (with the cakes!), and
£500 each to TeamHaslerMND and WestWarriersMND GoFundMe campaigns. Full results on RAINOW 5 (results tab) and FRA website.
