From the 2026 season, the club will introduce a new road running award: the Best Performance in the Cheshire Road Grand Prix trophy. This award is designed to recognise athletes who compete at the highest level within Cheshire while also consistently representing the club in team competition.
The trophy will be awarded annually to the male and female athletes who achieve the highest finishing positions in the overall 2026 Cheshire Road Grand Prix standings.
As a result of the introduction of this new trophy, the bonus points system will be removed from the club’s internal Road Running Club Championship from the 2026 season onwards. All races, whether they form part of the Cheshire Road Grand Prix or not, will now be worth 100 points to the first-placed Harrier.
This change ensures that all races contributing to the 2026 Road Running Club Championship carry equal value. As a result, athletes will no longer be disadvantaged if they are unable to attend a Cheshire Road Grand Prix event, making the championship fairer and more inclusive for all competitors.
Despite the creation of two separate trophies, the club continues to strongly encourage members to participate in as many Cheshire Road Grand Prix events as possible. The achievement of winning both the men’s and women’s team titles in 2025 was a clear demonstration of the club’s strength, and we look forward to building on this success in future seasons.
The 2026 Cheshire Road Grand Prix events will be added to our internal Road Running Club Championship fixture list as soon as they are released by Cheshire County Athletics.
