Nine Macclesfield Harriers took on the Birchwood 10k in the heat. This a tricky course which contains two energy-sapping climbs over steep bridges near the end of the race.
The fastest Harrier, and 3rd MV45, was Mark Walker in a time of 35:38. He was followed by Matt Lynas in 38:40, and our third male was Graeme Eddie in a time of 43:25.
Our fastest lady, and the 1st FV40, was Faye Sharpley in a time of 41:10. She was followed by Sue Stockdale in 45:45, and Helen Eddie in 74:13.
Congratulations to all who took part and represented the club with strong performances. Full results are available here.

The standings for the 2025 Road Running Championship will be updated after every race and can be accessed at the link below. 5 women have completed the 6 qualifying races and Sue Stockdale extended her lead to nine points; however, Faye Sharpley, Kristy Readman (both yet to complete 6 qualifying races), and Helen Saunders could still overtake her before the end of the season. 11 men have completed 6 qualifying races, and following today’s performance Graeme Eddie is now in first place but his lead is just 2 points! Mark Walker’s result saw him climb to third. Bonus points from Cheshire Grand Prix races and the Macclesfield Running Festival look likely to play a pivotal role in determining the final men’s and women’s standings!
2025 Road Running Championship Standings
Marathon results also count for points in this year’s Road Running Club Championships, so please submit your results to the Road Running Manager, Owain Morris, if you would like your score to be added. Thank you to everyone who has submitted their results so far!
The 2025 fixture list is available here, and entries are now open for all remaining races.
Two of our next three races are designated as Cheshire Road Grand Prix races. Participating in these races is a great way to represent the club (and grab the bonus points available for competing!). We finished 2nd in the men’s standings and 4th in the women’s standings last year and we are hoping for another strong showing this year. The ladies’ superb performance at Pie and Peas 5 will likely have seen them move up the standings from 3rd while the men will be hoping they are still 1st when the standings are updated (individual and team standings available here). A full team consists of four people, so it would be great to have at least 4 men and 4 women at the remaining Cheshire Road Grand Prix races.
- Guilden Sutton 10k (Cheshire Road Grand Prix), September 21st
- Wilmslow parkrun, October 11th
- Macclesfield Running Festival (5k, 10k, and half marathon – bonus points available in all three races but only the half marathon is part of the Cheshire Grand Prix), October 26th
Before these races take place, the club will also be participating in the North West Counties Road Relays in Birkenhead Park on September 14th. Further information is available here, and anyone wishing to take part should fill in this Google Form.
We look forward to racing with you soon!
