TRACK – MEN
A selection of previously unclaimed records was claimed by the Murray family, proving that it is never too late to get those claims in and see your name in lights!
Declan Murray claimed the 800m Indoor and 1500m Outdoor records on the track in the U20 and U23 age categories respectively, while Calum Murray also claimed the U23 800m Indoor record.
Ian Ratcliffe continues to improve his sprinting prowess and shatter his own Track records. Ian has improved both his 100m and 200m times, including a sub-14 second 100m at the Joe Moran Memorial Meeting!
Finally, it gives me great pride yet again to recognise Jake Rowley and his mid-distance running achievements. At the conclusion of another impressive outdoor season in the U17 age category, Jake broke the 800m U17 record that had stood for 34 years in his final race of the season!
After a break from racing the 800m, while focusing on the 400m, Jake returned to the 800m to sign off his season in his very first British Milers Club race in Bury, claiming a club record in the process with a time of 1:57.53.
TRACK – WOMEN
Faye Sharpley represented the women’s Track records in style over the summer, and claimed not one, but two records in sprint events. Faye claimed a previously unclaimed record in the V35 400m at the Cheshire Championships at Macclesfield. Faye then followed this up and blew the existing V35 200m record out of the water, with a new sub-30 second time in the Cheshire Track & Field League! Congratulations Faye.
FIELD – MEN
Ian Ratcliffe followed up his success on the Track, with an impressive display in the Shot at the Masters Grand Prix in Sheffield. Ian once again improved on his own previous best, by a further 39cm and continues to dominate these events in the V60 category.
Tristan Lamprecht continues to make waves as a multi-eventer. In fact, Tristan is more of a tsunami than a wave in athletics, and has once again claimed several records, this time in the Field.
Firstly, Tristan shattered the U15 Javelin record that had stood for over 20 years with a throw of 53.17m. Not satisfied with this, Tristan then also claimed the U15 Pole Vault record that had been in place since 2008 with a vault over 3m!
Finally, to round off a tremendous summer, Tristan recorded a points tally of 4420 points in the Octathlon, eclipsing his own previous best. Tristan also secured 1st place and a gold medal finish in the process, at the England Athletics Combined Events Championships in Eton. Fabulous achievements Tristan!
FIELD – WOMEN
Nicky Tasker had a meritorious summer in the Hammer Throw, improving her previous best of 16.93m in the V55 age category, with a throw of 17.43m in the Northern League. Nicky then improved this even further at the end of September with a throw of 19.29m at The Final Fling (great name!) in Wrexham.
Caroline Gisby continues to claim Field records and set a new Long Jump record in the V45 category with a (wind-assisted) jump of 3.31m at the Cheshire County Champs at Macclesfield.
Finally, Barbara Murray set a new Javelin record with a throw over 8m in the V65 category. The previous record had been in place since 2012, however Barbara bettered this by almost a metre while competing in the Cheshire Track & Field League, Ashton-under-Lyne.
