June 2024 Club Record-Breakers

TRACK – MEN

The Northern League (West 2S) event in Macclesfield in June 2024 was particularly favourable for our male veteran athletes.

Jasyn Savage eclipsed the previous 100m record in the V45 category by 0.10 seconds! A record that had stood for over 9 years.

In the V35 category, David Smith shattered the previous 400m record of 60.49 seconds that had been in place for almost 10 years!! David (Dave) recorded an incredible time of 52.90 seconds and is obviously reaping the rewards of attendance with the Sprints Group!

FIELD – MEN

June 2024 was particularly rewarding for our Harriers in the Field events.

Hayden Blunn achieved a bronze medal placed finish in the Shot Put at the U20 & Senior North of England Championships in Middlesbrough. Hayden improved his own record of 12.94m set last year by almost a further metre, with an improved distance of 13.91m.

Hayden also set a new Javelin record in the U20 category at the County Championships. The previously held record of 44.84m (set in 1997!!) was broken with a throw of 46.24m! Congratulations Hayden.

Jasyn Savage continued the success in the Field events, also setting new records in both the Shot Put and Javelin, improving his own records in these events. Jasyn improved his V45 Shot record by 21cm to 10.41m. In addition, he also improved his V45 Javelin record by over 50cm to a new distance of 34.38m! Excellent effort Jasyn.

Finally, Dave Smith claimed a second mention this month, recording a new record in the V35 Triple Jump event in addition to his 400m record. Very many congratulations chaps!

FIELD – WOMEN

It was also a meritorious month for two of our female athletes in the V45 category.

Lisa Hunsley improved the V45 discus record that had been in place for nearly 12 years by almost 3 metres, with a distance of 17.86m at the Northern League (West 2S) event in Macclesfield.

Finally, Caroline Gisby claimed a previously unclaimed record in the V45 Pole Vault event. Caroline vaulted a height of 1.80m at the County Championships in Macclesfield. Many congratulations to these two athletes.
