2022 Fell Handicap CANCELLED – poor weather contingency plan in operation

Posted on 16/12/2022
IMPORTANT – FELL HANDICAP CANCELLED – CONTINGENCY PLAN IN OPERATION
(Last update: Saturday 17th December 2022 @ 17:00)
Message from the event organiser….with the weather forecast so bad and access to the Cat & Fiddle for marshals like to be impossible the race is CANCELLED and the contingency plan is in operation. See below….

Contingency Palm – in operation

The Plan will be everyone for everybody to arrive for 9:45 to be sorted into three groups for a two hour outing if weather allows. Assume this to be along the lines of the three start time colour groups put out last week, but you can choose your group on the day.

Routes will be along the lines of:

GREEN: Handicap to Nessit, Standing Stone, Forest Chapel, Hacked Way Lane, Saddlers Way, Teggs Nose
BLUE: Handicap to Shutlingsloe, Standing Stone, Forest Chapel, Hacked Way Lane, Saddlers Way, Teggs Nose
RED: Handicap to the Cat, Clough Brook, Bottom of the Oven Forest Chapel, Hacked Way Lane, Saddlers Way, Teggs Nose

We have ample leaders/experienced people out in each group to manage the numbers and keep people together in groups of 10-12 with 2 leaders in each bookending the groups to keep them together. Please stay alert to who you should be with and if you do get separated report back to the St Dunstan’s, or in emergency call 01260 252615.

It should go without saying that it would be foolish for anyone to turn up without extra gear or the right footwear. Please don’t put any leaders into the awkward situation of having to deny you joining them.

Either way the event will obviously be followed by some food and drink in the St Dunstans at 12.30pm – the St Dunstan’s are aware and all marshals have been informed.

Have a great day and sorry I (Tom) can’t join you!
