SUMMARY:2024 Rainow 5 - Summer Evening Series
DESCRIPTION:The annual Rainow 5 is back for 2024. Wed 1st May 2024. \nBackground about the event can be found here… Rainow 5 \nPlease collect your race number from registration in the Rainow Village Institute (opposite Robin Hood pub) from 6pm onwards. Bags can be left here (no valuables to be left). Bring your own safety pins please. All runners must display their race number. The race starts at 7:30pm very close to the Institute building. \nThe race is run under FRA regulations – as such be prepared to have FRA kit – a recommended minimum for this race is a waterproof top. The race route map and GPX file is available on the race website here (Rainow 5)\nIt is your responsibility to know the route (its on footpaths) – there will be marshals on each junction. Note the race is 5 miles (not 5K!). After collecting your number\, if you do not start or do not complete the race it is essential you let a marshal or the race registration team know.  There will be a “sweeper” at the back of the runners. The route does include kissing gates – if you are fast make sure you start at the front – otherwise be prepared to make the most of a breather at the gates if necessary! \nAfter the race tea/coffees and cakes will be available to buy – please bring exact cash £2-£3 depending on your thirst and hunger and if possible bring your own mug to be filled(refreshment profits all fund-raising for Rainow Pre-School). \nLow-key prize giving will take place at 8:45pm in the institute\, along with presentation of donations from your entry fees to local charities TBD. \nI look forward to seeing you all & enjoy the race. \nRachael Lawrance \nFor route and previous results information CLICK HERE \nINFO ON FRA WEBSITE \nLINK TO ENTRY SYSTEM (SI Entries)  – (£6 for FRA members\, £7 others\, EoD £10 – entry fees same as 2023)

SUMMARY:2024 Shining Tor - Summer Evening Series
DESCRIPTION:Shining Tor is a well established race. Taking you from the Errwood reservoir past the ruins of Errwood Hall\, up to the summit of Shining Tor and along the ridge to Pym’s chair\, giving you fantastic views of the Cheshire plain (weather permitting). \nI reckon we have the best registration venue in the Errwood sailing club\, of any fell race\, but I might be biased. \nAs has happened in recent years\, Buxton Mountain rescue team will marshal the course\, which I think makes it the best marshalled. But I am biased. \nLast year the profit of £1200 was donated to Mountain rescue  so they can keep on helping those who get into trouble on the hills surrounding the Goyt Valley. They are all volunteers but need cash to maintain equipment and resources\, so look on your entry fee as an insurance premium that you hope to never call on. \nNothing has changed\, start time is 7.30. though after last year we are saying that there will be a time limit of 90 minutes to complete the course.
