DESCRIPTION:Doctors Gate fell race – 25th February 2024\n\nStart at 11 am for men & women\nOnline entry: £10.00 plus £1 booking fee\nEntry on the day: £13.00\nMinimum age: 18\nSkills & experience: ER\, PM\, LK\nEntries close at midnight on Friday 23rd February.\nThis race has a Permit and associated UK Athletics insurance from the FRA\n\n\nThe route starts and finishes at the Queen’s Arms\, Shepley Street in Old Glossop. \nStarting from The Queens Arms in Old Glossop\, Doctors Gate is a 12.7 mile fell race with nearly 3000 ft of scent. The route takes you along the old packhorse route out of Old Glossop to where it meets the Pennine Way\, before heading to Higher Shelf Stones\, then on to Lower Shelf Stones. After returning to Doctors Gate\, the route then climbs James Thorn\, via Shelf Benches\, before returning to Old Glossop via Dog Rock\, Torside Clough and Cock Hill. \nPre-entries will close by midnight on the 19th February. \nThere will be food provided at the finish\, with a presentation and prizes at the end.

SUMMARY:2024 Rainow 5 - Summer Evening Series
DESCRIPTION:The annual Rainow 5 is back for 2024. Wed 1st May 2024. \nBackground about the event can be found here… Rainow 5 \nPlease collect your race number from registration in the Rainow Village Institute (opposite Robin Hood pub) from 6pm onwards. Bags can be left here (no valuables to be left). Bring your own safety pins please. All runners must display their race number. The race starts at 7:30pm very close to the Institute building. \nThe race is run under FRA regulations – as such be prepared to have FRA kit – a recommended minimum for this race is a waterproof top. The race route map and GPX file is available on the race website here (Rainow 5)\nIt is your responsibility to know the route (its on footpaths) – there will be marshals on each junction. Note the race is 5 miles (not 5K!). After collecting your number\, if you do not start or do not complete the race it is essential you let a marshal or the race registration team know.  There will be a “sweeper” at the back of the runners. SUMMARY:2024 Shining Tor - Summer Evening Series
DESCRIPTION:Shining Tor is a well established race. Taking you from the Errwood reservoir past the ruins of Errwood Hall\, up to the summit of Shining Tor and along the ridge to Pym’s chair\, giving you fantastic views of the Cheshire plain (weather permitting). \nI reckon we have the best registration venue in the Errwood sailing club\, of any fell race\, but I might be biased. \nAs has happened in recent years\, Buxton Mountain rescue team will marshal the course\, which I think makes it the best marshalled. But I am biased. \nLast year the profit of £1200 was donated to Mountain rescue  so they can keep on helping those who get into trouble on the hills surrounding the Goyt Valley. They are all volunteers but need cash to maintain equipment and resources\, so look on your entry fee as an insurance premium that you hope to never call on. \nNothing has changed\, start time is 7.30. though after last year we are saying that there will be a time limit of 90 minutes to complete the course. DESCRIPTION:The DCRO Dash\n\n\nThe DCRO Dash is a fast\, tough race over the hills south-west of Castleton in the Peak District of Derbyshire. \nA major fund-raiser for DCRO\, the route passes through some beautiful upland country sandwiched between the moors of the Dark Peak and the valleys of the White Peak … and some of the most severe and rewarding cave venues in the country\, and will prove a strong challenge to runners of all abilities. \nThe race is run under FRA Rules:-\nFRA Race Category: BS\nDate: Provisionally Wednesday 19th June 2024\nStart Time: 7.30pm\nRegistration: from 6.00pm at Speedwell Cavern Car Park\nPre-Entry: £5.50 – Online entry usually opens around April\, Make sure you follow us on socials to receive updates about entry\nEntry on the day £6.00  (Race limit is 200\, Pre-entry is strongly recommended)\nMinimum Age: 18 years\nFlagging: Partially Flagged\nRace Distance: 8.5km\nTotal Ascent: 370m \nRunning Kit: Please bring full FRA kit with you (waterproof jacket\, trousers\, hat\, gloves as per FRA Rules) and be prepared to carry/wear it on the race if conditions dictate. DESCRIPTION:This is one of the oldest fell races in the country with a history going back over 100 years. It is renowned for being short\, tough and demanding. \nDistance of 3.4 miles with 1001 feet of climb. \nThis year we will be using the Bugsworth War Memorial Club as Race HQ\, this is just around the corner from the canal basin and the old venue and is much closer to the start of the race.  Please be aware that if you park at the Navigation Inn you may be charged a fee unless you go in and spend money at the bar.  There is a large car park available at Tesco only 1km away on the canal.  Other parking will be available on the day\, please read the race brief email that will be sent out a few days before the race for details. \nNumbers will be picked up on the day. \nStart time 7.30pm\, this race often sells out which makes it unlikely there will be entries on the day.

The Hole in the Wall is approx 500 feet (150 metres) higher & 3/4 of a mile (1.2km) in the wrong direction to the finish from where the race route crosses the wall. \nCar parking is at Patterdale Cricket Club (CA11 0PJ) which is a ten minute walk from registration/start. £5 cash per car. FULL FRA KIT IS REQUIRED AND WILL BE CHECKED AT THE VILLAGE HALL BEFORE YOU REGISTER
