National Youth Athletics League - Rd 5

Macclesfield Harriers and Athletic Club travelled to The Oval, Bebbington,
home of Wirral AC for the last round of the National Young Athletes League.
Having competed reasonably in the previous four rounds Macclesfield were
placed 11th in the Northern Premier Division but with four clubs relegated
at the end of the season were by no means safe. Mathematically two clubs
could rise above the Club with another, Kingston upon Hull hot on their
heels. Macclesfield needed at least 3rd place in this match to be sure of
remaining in the Northern Premier in their first season, but were hoping to
beat Kingston to secure their position. Events on the day went above the
expectations of all the age group team managers and with exceptional
performances from many athletes Macclesfield rose above the home side in the
early stages of the match and continued to build on this good start to
eventually win the match overall. Kingston Upon Hull secured second place
with Wirral third, unfortunately Harrogate remained in fourth place
throughout the day and look likely for relegation.

National Youth Athletic League

Hovering just above the relegation zone in their first season in the Northern Premier Division of the National Young Athlete's League, Macclesfield Harriers travelled to Merseyside to compete in the fourth round
match. As expected the home team, Liverpool Harriers were clear winners on the day but despite strong competition, Macclesfield manage to move into second place three quarters of the way through the match. Scores remained close until the final round of relays where Macclesfield confirmed their position with Southport Waterloo third and Morpeth Harriers finishing in fourth. The three points gained from this match will move Macclesfield up two or three places in the division and relieve the pressure on the final match where the competition is expected to be slightly easier.

Cheshire Track Relays - Macclesfield - 1st July – Under 11 teams

On a very hot day at Macclesfield Track, Macclesfield Harriers under 11 boys and girls teams started the relays competitions in great style.  The girls A team comprised Clara Boothby, Bethany Burrows, Georgia Burgess and Grace Hatton.  They finished 4th in their heat with a time of 63.7 which qualified them for the main final where they finished a creditable 6th with an improved time of 63.3.  The girls B team were Zoe Potts, Bethany Sloan, Marissa Williams and Rachel Kirton.  They finished 6th in their heat with a time of 70.3 seconds, narrowly missing out on the main final.  They did however have a chance to contest the B final and improved their time to 70.0 to finish in 4th place.

The boys A & B teams had a fantastic start to the day, both winning their respective heats to set up a head to head in the final.  In the A team were Thomas Wootton, Sean Mortin, Thomas Ramsey and Thomas Lee; they recorded a time of 62.0 seconds in their heat. The B team of Evan Hilton, Tom Pennington, Mark Ainley and Rory Hill clocked 63.0 seconds in their heat. Unfortunately for the Macclesfield boys, Crewe & Nantwich pulled out an exceptionally fast time in the final to steal the gold medals but the boys A and B teams took silver and bronze respectively.
