Young Athletes Road Relay Championships

Macclesfield Harriers Under 13 boys team were the only Harriers representatives at the Young Athletes road relay Championships held in Sutton Park Birmingham on Sunday 22 October. Calum Murray had a great run to finish strongly in third position on the first leg ahead of some tough opposition from all over the UK. Calum recorded the fourth fastest time of the day (13min 58s). Ryan Wallis in his first year in the under 13 age group had an excellent run recording 16.37 on the second leg (23rd), as did James Mothershaw, also at the younger end of the age group, who brought the team home in 34th with an 18.04 recording.  Giffnock North AC had a very successful journey south from Glasgow to win the title.

Langley 7 Results 2006

The Langley Seven road race was run in good conditions with a field of 212 finishers proving that participation is better than just watching!  Thanks to all the runners who took part and especially to all the course marshalls, sign placers, timekeepers, starters, caterers, entry on the day people, results collaters, St John, Police, local neighbours and others not mentioned but just as important who made it possible. Any mistakes in prize allocation entirely my fault and will try better next time! Colin Ardron - rookie race organiser.

The results can be found here .

Langley 7 Needs You!

The Langley 7 is one of the keynote events in the Macclesfield Harriers race calendar and it depends on volunteers for its continuing success.  This is your chance to put something back into the sport.  If you are a willing and enthusiastic person we need you.  The race is on Saturday November 4th. We need people to fill a variety of roles so if you aren't running then here's your chance to have a laugh at those who are:

 - marshalls at start, finish, car parking and out on the course

 - someone to help with registration and entries on the day

 - someone with keyboard skills to input results on computer (we have software that pulls out prize categories, all you have to do is press a button)

please contact either Colin Ardron (Race Organiser) on 01625 613158 or 07754198244 or Dave Jackson (especially for marshalls) on 01625 263897
