Alsager 5 2017 Race Report

Another dry, cool and calm day was in store for runners who took the short trip south for the flat and fast Alsager 5, perfect conditions for some quick times by Macc Harriers. A total of 38 Harriers completed the race, with the ever present support of Bob Lynch and Steve Lomas spurring many of the runners on to PBs.

Updated Four Villages Half Marathon 2017 Race Report

After a snowy week, a change to milder, but wet, conditions greeted runners at the first Road Running Championship race of the year, the Four Villages Half Marathon. A healthy number of 26 Harriers braved the wet conditions to take on this course which starts out flat, goes up Simmond’s Hill but then has a fast downhill finish. There were some excellent performances by Harriers with a number of PB’s.

Congleton Parkrun Jan 21st 2017 Report

The ethos of Parkrun is to provide a free, timed 5K run for all ages and abilities every Saturday morning. We are lucky in Macclesfield as there are a number of Parkruns in our local area that offer a wide variety of challenges to runners. This week as part of the club Road Race Championship Macc Harriers visited the Congleton Parkrun which takes place around the scenic Astbury Mere. Three flat laps on well maintained paths around the Mere means that Congleton is one of the faster Parkrun courses. There were 25 Macc Harriers who made the 9am start on a dry but cool Saturday morning with some excellent performances from all who took part.

Marathon Advice Evening - 1st February

On Wednesday 1st February at 8.00pm (room available from 7.30pm) there will be the chance for club members to meet in the Park Tavern (Park Lane, Macclesfield) to discuss all things marathon - training, nutrition, kit, race day.

This evening is for club members who have run marathons before to share their experience with those who are running one for the first time (the room has limited capacity!).

Please pass this information to anybody that is interested in coming along.
