Wincle Trout - June 3rd

Fine weather brought out the crowds for the Wincle Trout Fell Race on Saturday. The event's popularity is ever increasing and this year was no exception - they ran out of registration forms and had to turn some runners away.

As usual there was a large contingent of Harriers (must have been around 30?...).

Provisional results:

Macclesfield Ladies were very successful with Sarah Harris winning the ladies event with a time of 47.13, and Janet Hatton was 1st lady vet in 48.21.

In the mens, Andrew Lamont finished 2nd in a time of 39.02, with Barry Blyth next Harrier 13th in a time of 42.09 (V50 winner?). Tim Stock and Mike Nelson finished 18th and 22nd to help Macclesfield win the team prize.

Lots of photos on Bryan Dale's excellent Race Photos website .

Full results to follow.

Rainow Five - 7th June 2006

White Nancy
Warren Mason passes White Nancy
On a warm and dry wednesday night, 29 Harriers competed in the Rainow Five fell race. This 5 mile race starts behind the Robin Hood Pub and makes its way over to Kerridge with a stiff climb up to White Nancy. A fast descent then leads to the long return track to the finish. Congratulations to Andy Lamont for taking first place. The first three harriers of Andy Lamont, Raph Murray and Tim Taylor also took the team prize.

Barbara Murray was 3rd Lady.

Shining Tor Fell Race

Raph Murray

The weather held out and a revised course was used that made it about 1.5 miles longer than normal. A big Harriers turnout, along with a few others "supporting". Andrew Lamont was first Harrier, followed by Mark Hartell and Barry Blyth. Barry took the V50 prize, just beating Raph Murray. Macc also won the team prize.

Full results can be found on the Goyt Valley Race website. Lots of good, bad, ugly photos in the album courtesy of Andy "gatevault" Skelhorn.
