Rainow 5 2017

Updated... We raised £1000 which has been donated to local Rainow charities (Rainow Village Institute, Rainow Pre-School, KRIV (who help to maintain local paths including those the race uses) & Buxton Mountain Rescue). Thanks to all the marshals/helpers who helped make this race possible. See you next year! 

Rainow 5 Fell Race 2017 Final Results are below. 

This year we had 212 starters at the Rainow 5 Fell Race on a lovely sunny evening. A good battle for leaders saw Simon Pymm from Horwich RMI 1st back in 33 mins and 4 seconds. The first lady was Steph Curtis from Pennine in 40 minutes 32 seconds. Pennine won the men's and the ladies' team prizes. There was a great pose-race atmosphere! Thanks to all the marshals/helpers who helped make this race possible.

Fellsman 2017

Six Harriers turned out this year for the 55th Fellsman event held last weekend, a 60 (or so) mile jaunt (interspersed with eating and drinking tea at regular intervals) round various bits of the Yorkshire Dales (including two of the 3 Peaks in the race taking place on the same day). Conditions were pretty good during the day, a bit windy and chilly at night on the tops.

Club fell champs and summer series update - Herod Farm, Anniversary Waltz, Kinder Downfall and Mow Cop races

A busy week saw 43 Harriers take part in the first summer series race Herod Farm, along with three club championship races: Anniversary Waltz (in the Lakes), Kinder Downfall and Mow Cop. A further 3 Harriers took on the challenging AL category race Teenager with Altitude, also in the Lakes. 

Performers of the week were Mark Messenger and Barry Blyth  who were first Male V50 at Herod Farm and Mow Cop and first Male V70 at Herod Farm and Kinder Downfall, respectively. Notable mentions should also go out to the 7 other  Harriers who also raced twice last week. As well the 4 who took on their first Lakes race.

Maytime Scamper-O - evening Orienteering score event, Wednesday 24 May 2017

This years event will take place in Gradbach. The format is like previous years and similar to MDOC Countryside score events. Each entrant will be given a pre-marked map with questionnaire sheet – questions will be something like “number on telegraph post N side of path.  

Routes are on on public rights of way, you decide your own, which controls to visit. Time limit is 90 minutes. Points are deducted for taking more than that. All points are lost if you're more than 10 minutes late.

Herod Farm Fell Race 2017

A goodly gang of Harriers turned out for the first Wed night race of the year, over in Glossop, on a decent evening for a short sharp race.

Juniors were to the fore as always, but we scooped the V50 and V70 prizes as well.
