Intermediate Fell Group (IFG) - Update

The IFG  (intermediate fell group) was originally intended to only last 6 weeks.  It was formed to compliment the 3 fell taster sessions led by Shaun Wilde and to provide a stepping stone to the regular fell group, or to enter the Staffordshire Moorlands Summer Series (see previous post for details).

However, due to the success of the IFG and the increase of runners attending the regular group on a Wednesday night, we have decided to continue with the group.  It must be said that this is only due to a team of 7 regular fell runners who have volunteered to remain and support the group. It is our aim over the next few months to continue to build your confidence and strength on the hills.

Fell running taster session, Sun 28th May

The final session in this series will be held near Errwood Reservoir, starting at small Goyt Valley car park at the top of Bunsal incline on Goyt’s Lane (grid ref SK 024 751). Timings are 09:45 to 11:45.

In this session we will look at kit selection, safety considerations, uphill and downhill running techniques, and applying those to different types of terrain.

The minimum age is 12 and all juniors under 18 must have a signed consent form given to Shaun Wilde (Session Leader) by the parent or guardian. The parent or guardian can optionally attend the session.

Bollington 3 Peaks Fell Race 2017

From the chief organiser Andy (in the big 'at...) 'A big thank You for everyone who helped make the race such a success on Saturday.

Also lots of money raised for Buxton Mountain Rescue and Bollington Festival.

There were more runners than we could cope with, so registration and results and cars were a little tricky on the day, and many EOD runners were not able to get a number, apologies for that.

But for most people it was still a great day.

All feedback will be very welcome as I look for ways to make things run more smoothly next year !
