As stated, by Nancy on the forum: "Brilliant turn out of 12 Macclesfield Harriers for this 1-mile AS fell race. We had as many boys under 11 as men over 40 (15 of each), with a total of 64 runners. Not bad for a drizzly day."

Bob Graham Round and other long distance news

Congratulations to Harriers' Dan Croft who completed a Bob Graham round on 15th/16th July. Commiserations to Carl Hanaghan who had to retire at Wasdale with a combination of injury and illness, we'll be ready when you fancy another attempt Carl.

Weather conditions were mixed to say the least, with gale force winds, thick mist and heavy rain severely hampering progress on legs 1 and 2 (the overnight leg), but much improved conditions and even a bit of sun for the later legs. Both our contenders were about 90 minutes behind their schedule at Wasdale, but Dan worked hard over the last two legs to finish about 15 minutes inside the 24 hour limit.

I'm sure Dan and Carl would like to thank their supporters on the hill and at the roadside crossings: in return the supporters would like to thank them for an excuse to trundle round the lakes for a couple of days in excellent company.

We were fortunate enough to be out on the same weekend that Rob Jebb set the second fastest round, in about fourteen and a half hours, about 40 minutes outside Billy Bland's time, and slightly quicker than Mark Hartell's. He never quite caught our contenders though: that'll teach him to give them 10 hours start.

In other news, congratulations to Julie Gardner who finished 8th Lady in the 110 km Andorra ultra trail race. Julie took just under 33 hours for the race which includes nearly 10000 metres of climb and descent, which perhaps gives an indication of how hard it is !

CLUB FELL CHAMPS UPDATE after THE BOLLINGTON NOSTALGIA

17 Harriers turned out in this local race out of a field of 120. James Noakes and Peter Nield top-tenned in 5th and 7th place respectively. It was good to see Jacob Roberts up and running again after his nasty bike accident coming a creditable 17th.

For the ladies Angela Markley is making a habit of finishing in the top 3 this time coming 1st in 29th place overall. Alannah Birtwistle was 3rd lady (1st u23) in 40th place. Great running both, some really good performances over the last couple of months !!

Langley Fete Fell Run 26th June, 2016

Many thanks and congratulations to all the runners who came and took part in the 8th Langley Fete Fell Run today. Given that at this time of year we are competing with several local races over this weekend, we still had a small but perfectly formed field of strong runners.
