Club fell champs and summer series update - Herod Farm, Anniversary Waltz, Kinder Downfall and Mow Cop races

A busy week saw 43 Harriers take part in the first summer series race Herod Farm, along with three club championship races: Anniversary Waltz (in the Lakes), Kinder Downfall and Mow Cop. A further 3 Harriers took on the challenging AL category race Teenager with Altitude, also in the Lakes.

Performers of the week were Mark Messenger and Barry Blyth  who were first Male V50 at Herod Farm and Mow Cop and first Male V70 at Herod Farm and Kinder Downfall, respectively. Notable mentions should also go out to the 7 other  Harriers who also raced twice last week. As well the 4 who took on their first Lakes race.

Forest 5 - filling up!

The 2017 Forest 5 (Wednesday 19th July) is filling up fast. As club members may be aware there is an inter-club competition at this event with a least 4 clubs taking part.

If anybody from the road running groups are interested in entering for some local club friendly rivalry, please enter as soon as possible ( as the race will soon be promoted in the Macclesfield Express as part of a series of articles profiling different elements of the Club.

Also, a gentle reminder that Club Vests must be worn when racing (only runners in club vests count in the team event).

Herod Farm Fell Race 2017

A goodly gang of Harriers turned out for the first Wed night race of the year, over in Glossop, on a decent evening for a short sharp race.

Juniors were to the fore as always, but we scooped the V50 and V70 prizes as well.

Intermediate Fell Group - Run 1

The club fell section are encouraging members to try out fell running with a series of taster sessions and shorter Wednesday night runs (Intermediate Fell Group). The first of the intermediate runs was in Macclesfield Forest where 24 people came along to 'have a go'. It was a super evening - thanks to the leaders that helped everybody. The second IFG session is on Wednesday 12th April - details are on the website and in the fell section FB group.
